McWhorter Dean and Professor at Samford University McWhorter School of Pharmacy. His pharmacy training includes a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from the University of North Carolina followed by a first-year pharmacy residency at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. Dr. Crouch also received a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the Medical University of South Carolina where he completed a second-year residency focused on cardiology. Before joining Samford in 2014, he served on the faculties of Virginia Commonwealth University (Assistant then Associate Professor of Pharmacy and Medicine), South University (Chair and Professor), and East Tennessee State University (Associate Dean for Academic Affairs then Executive Associate Dean). Dr. Crouch is known nationally as a leader in education, practice and research. He has dedicated much of his career to educating pharmacy trainees including professional students, graduate students, and pharmacy residents. As a third-generation, licensed pharmacist, he has diverse practice experience in the community, ambulatory care, hospital, and critical care settings. In 2009 he was named a fellow of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists. Dr. Crouch has over 100 scholarly articles, posters, and book chapters, and has served as editor for two books: Cardiovascular Pharmacotherapy: A Point-of-Care Guide and Securing and Excelling in a Pharmacy Residency. He presently serves on the Paraguay Baptist Medical Center Foundation Board, Tuscaloosa Research and Education Advancement Corporation Board, and Albert Schweitzer of Alabama Advisory Council.
